As part of my continuing efforts to keep abreast of the best cruise opportunities for my clients, I recently attended Royal Caribbean International Familiarization Weekend, a three day-long training on the award-winning cruise brand. Saylor Cruises was among a select few agencies invited to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to experience the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s groundbreaking ships firsthand. Paula Saylor participated in comprehensive training seminars that imparted in-depth knowledge about Royal Caribbean’s offerings, from the vast array of complimentary onboard experiences to custom shore excursions, specialty dining, and the cruise line’s private beach destinations.

We toured both the Oasis and the Allure of the Seas as well as gaining valuable insight to Royal Caribbean’s continued efforts to not only intrigue but also meet the ever changing needs of our clients.

Agents experienced an intense weekend including both work and play. Cape Haze vacation rental by owner

The family just returned from Cape Haze, which is located about 30 mile south of Sarasota across from Lemon Bay. I am told that we can just barely see the intra-coastal waterway from our front door. This was a pleasant surprise, because we are across the street from the intra-coastal.

We are also able to walk to Don Pedro State Park, where we can then take a boat across to Don Pedro State Park Beach. Other easy beach alternatives include taking the ferry across the intra-coastal waterway to Palm Island, or driving 3 miles to the Boca Grande causeway. There are three beaches on Boca Grande island. The other beach option is Englewood beach which boasts miles of public beach. Englewood beach is on Manasota Key about 10 minutes from Cape Haze Resort. Along the way you will find all sorts of beach fun stuff, like water skiing and jet skiing.

The Placida public fishing pier is also just about 3 miles away, right next to Fisheries, which is one of everyone's favorite restraunts in the Cape Haze - Placida area.

Cape Haze Resort has all the amenities you could imagine, including on-site tennis courts, basketball courts, a beautiful swimming pool, a putting green complete with sand trap, a state of the art fitness center, and a gorgeous clubhouse. There are nice cooking grills next to the pool area, and miles of hiking trails in our nature preserve just behind the resort property.

An ancient Greek foundation under the name of Iader, and later an important jewel in the Venetian crown as Zara, Zadar retained a partly Italian character until the twentieth century, and was held as a possession of the Kingdom of Italy between the world wars. Visit the Cathedral of St Donat’s, the Benedictine convent of St Mary with its collection entitled ‘The Gold and Silver of Zadar’, the Archaeological Museum, and retrace the Roman lay-out of the walls and streets of the city, viewing the largest forum on the East of the Adriatic.

Day 5 - Hvar
Morning at the island stronghold of Hvar where late medieval, Renaissance and Baroque houses crowd around the bay. Tour of the highlights of the miscellany of buildings and fortifications. Sail on to Dubrovnik arriving in the evening.

Day 6 - Dubrovnik
A full day to explore Dubrovnik, an amazingly preserved World Cultural heritage site with a beautiful walled city, and its hinterland. This medieval republic, alternately Venice’s handmaiden and rival, managed to preserve a form of independence until the advent of Napoleon. Late afternoon departure.

Day 7 - Cephallonia
Afternoon arrival on Cephallonia for a tour of the historic port and island of great beauty, recent setting for Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Evening departure.

Day 8 - Santorini
Lunchtime arrival in the caldera of Santorini’s port of Thera with time to explore the cliff-top village and tour the Island. Set sail in the evening.

Day 9 - Mykonos

Here are some Cruise Packing Tips as demonstrated by K. C. at Saylor Cruises Cruise Night last month.

· To avoid last minute anxiety, make a thorough packing list before traveling.
· Avoid over-packing. Do not bring things, just because they may come in handy.
· Pack mix-and-match clothes to help minimize baggage and yet enjoy a variety.
· Take things that dry quickly, like synthetic fabrics and lightweight cotton.
· Iron before packing and then roll-don’t fold clothes.
· Stuff rolled bulky sweaters in pantyhose legs to take up less room.
· Hang clothes immediately upon arrival to prevent wrinkling. If clothes do wrinkle, hang them in the bathroom, while taking a shower to steam them.
· Place liquids, like shampoo and make-up in plastic bags, so they do not ruin clothing.
· Place shoes in plastic bags. Also, stuff, socks, underwear, or belts in them.
· Pack a small lint brush.
· Bring a day bag like a small backpack. It can be used as a beach bag for suntan lotion, sunglasses, and reading material or as tour bag to carry maps and shopping souvenirs.
· Don’t forget a small first-aid kit of aspirin, anti-diarrhea, and cold medications, band-aids and anti-bacteria cream.
· A security pouch that can be worn concealed is a good idea to carry traveler’s checks, money, passports and other valuables.
· Keep personal medications and eyeglasses in your carry-on luggage.

How exciting to start a "BLOG" a new experience for me and maybe for you too! Just as each of our cruises are a new and exciting experience. I am hoping each of you will have a little something to add to our informative site. Let me start with some inforamtion on our latest group cruise. Do you have any interest in an ARUBA experience ? We are presently planning a wonderful sailing to ARUBA. 7 days leaving San Juan on January 21, 2007. WE have so many things in the works for the coming months and 2007 and 2008. I want to thank all of you for making 2006 the best year ever for Saylor Cruises.... and the year isn't even over yet. Paula asked me to get involved a bit in her business, so the first thing I wanted to do was create this blog, so that Paula can let you know what new cruises she has planned, and keep you updated on our recent cruises.
